3). Minutes of meeting 8th September 2022 Agreed – no issues

4). Matters Arising: Nothing

5). Treasurers Report: BC advised no change in bank since money spent on website – £80. 22/04/2022. £1190.66 in bank.

6) Police Report: SW advised that Police will have presence at Security Afloat (08/02/2023) – will be great platform to highlight importance of people marking their goods because if stolen can be returned. Amongst others – RNLI, PHW & Port Control will also be present.

Crime Stats – Sept 2022

• 8 thefts
• 2 reports of Criminal damage
• Tank damaged on Training bank – Devon & Cornwall dive team have been brought in with underwater drones to see if there is any evidence to what has caused the damage.

Christchurch & PHW uniting so useful info can be gathered & patrols can be arranged SIFCA is involved Application for Drones has been raised

ACTION: JH asked for crime statistics for the year. SW to arrange.

Christchurch is seeing amazing support from the Police – Sophie, Ally & Alli – Thank you for support. JH advised that sub-committee for Security afloat has been set up. Police & PHC gelled & everyone is taking on responsibilities. Thank you for support. JM asked for idea of stats specifically related to Yacht clubs – Sophie not sure but believes there were incidents reported at NHYC

7). Poole Harbour Watch Security Afloat 2023 JH – advised that at 2018 event there were approx. 200 – 250 attendees & it was a great success. Stands – Select DNA, D Tambling (Marine Police), PHC, RNLI, A-Plan Marine Insurance, Powerboat Training UK, Maritime Vol Service, SIFCA, Quay West Chandlers, Police cadets. Police cadets will register guests JH asked PHC to consider discussion about Port Control at event JH advised that RNLI would check & educate people how to pack life jackets

Tickets will be available through Eventbrite.

P Cutts added that previous events were well attended & added that this is good for local interest & advising about importance of securing one’s own assets.

BC asked is people who haven’t booked through Eventbrite can still attend. JH advised that North Lounge is restricted to 340 people so “important to stick to numbers” PC confirmed – capacity issue & JH agreed that we have to work in conjunction with PHC JH advised event will take place from 1800 – 20.45 & will be broken down into segments – Assembly & then presentations to prevent disruption for speakers.

SS will design posters & leaflets to go into Y/C and editorial for Harbour Times & Practical Boat owner – will be done by JH. BC asked of Digital adverts will be created. JH advised will be done – BCP & Police are happy share on FB page etc.

PHC will also mention in “Sound magazine.

YH – Confirmed that A-Plan Marine Insurance will sponsor Coffee / Tea & Biscuits.

8). PHC

BW – PHC happy to put up signs. Sec camera going up at end of Parkstone platform. New “Big shed” being erected at end of Baiter Slip

PHC patrols stopped for winter 3 speeding offences – 2 PWC & 1 Boston Whaler At present only Commercial traffic in Harbour J MC – Could we urge that Camera authority is under Port Control? Camera is council funded. BF to make enquiries & advise JH BW advised BCP bridge control cameras MJ advised Poole YC webcam has secure remote access can this be shared on PHC system. BW will investigate & adv JH SW interested but they have no jurisdiction BC raised if raising awareness of cameras is a good idea – SW advised not a good idea because of vandalism of cameras

PC agreed that highlighting speeding offences is a good idea & that signage at Baiter helps. BW adv that on previous occasion was tasked to go to Baiter & whilst checking permits also advised on Speed limits & navigation & this resulted in less speeding n the harbour. Joint efforts in educating people keeps offences down

9). Consul updates: PC – Parkstone Y/C – patrols crewed by +- 30 people. Only 2-3 cancelled during the season. PYC plan to do more patrols next year. Currently no boats on moorings so patrols halted. Planning earlier patrols next year as large number of crimes reported early season this year as vulnerability is high. Parkstone Pearl is used for patrols – she is safe & a good size. Crew must have P/B 2 or above & induction training given. “Otherwise, boat does not perform patrols”

MJ Poole YC – Patrollers prefer day patrols as some members have no confidence in navigating in the dark. JH adv that NHYC conduct patrols with people familiar in going out in the dark PC advised 3 crew on boats – 2 qualified Coxswain & 1 confident sailor – if all crew don’t meet this criteria, then the boat does not go out on patrol.

JH requested an editorial & photos for stand on Security Afloat from all consuls (Christchurch too)

BC – LSC no patrols as no boat & coordinated by someone who works – also restricted by tides. No confidence in going on patrols in the dark. PC said security cameras are cheaper than in previous years. Might be something that can be discussed at Sec Afloat.

NHYC- Patrols closed – all boats off moorings

RMYC – Patrols closed – all boats off moorings

Christchurch – JA Haven’t found volunteers for all nights Nothing to report during patrols that were done Launch is noisy Tuckton Tea Gardens is most prevalent area for crime

BF – 2 PWC stolen from Versa docks 2 – O/B thefts – Tuckton Council Boat doesn’t go out after 10pm Joined up with Ally – keen to join Council patrols Joint patrols in Poole

BP – More patrol boats that are visible the better Lakeyard has been hit hard by crime – they are covered by Poole Y/C & Parkstone Y/C patrols

BW- PHC goes up as high as Wareham & advised that Redcliff has boat on patrol

JM asked if JA has patrols in Yard – JA advised that gate is closed at night. Interesting to note that crimes go up before Jumbles.

SIFCA – DM – Season runs until Christmas. Ally is being fed crime information. DM will push for stand at Security Afloat & provide a Handbook Green & Seagull Island are now “closed off areas”

Bass nursery area is Salterns Marina to Jerrys Point

There is no legislation of where kite surfers are restricted.

10). AOB Studland Bay Partnership – JA. Buoyage MMO – Required to mark out area but there is still no funding available Consultation 04/10 – analysed & discussed No funding for ISO moorings – Taking a long time with no results J MC asked if new Navionics charts reflect “no go “area

NJ asked how patrols are advertised – JH on Notice Boards & emails. JA – suggested weekly newsletters. PC suggested – Club-wide communications JA suggested Buddy system for new club members J Mc said was good idea for new members learning to navigate in the dark
